Death Notice

We will not gather for Wednesday evening classes tonight May 11th due to the death of Cordell Borders. This is the father of Lionel Borders and his sisters who attend regularly. This gives all a time to show respect to the family and visitation with Carol, Cordell's wife. Visitation is today after 2:00 pm with the funeral on Friday at 11:00 am.

Sister Martha Carter's surgery

The surgery on Thursday went well for Sister Martha. She came home the same day and even though the doctors said that her voice would be compromised she was talking when she left the hospital and you would not know that she even had any surgery. Keep her in your prayers as you pray.

Baptismal Service on May 1st

We will be having a baptizing at the conclusion of our Sunday service tomorrow, May 1st. If there are any attenders that would like to or needs to be baptized you may let the pastor know or come prepared with a towel and an extra change of clothing for the service. Lakeside Drama Company

On Friday, April 22nd at 7:30 PM and Sunday, April 24th at 11:00 AM the Lakeside Church Drama Company will present: Choices: Perspectives from the Passion. We will be meeting both days in the Family Life Center for these presentations. Death of Bishop Eugene Weakley

Bishop Eugene Weakley, former Overseer of Tennessee passed away on Monday. He was a great man of God, a wonderful overseer, husband and father. During his time as overseer I worked under appointment out of the Tennessee State office and he was a wonderful leader. He appointed me to the Memphis church and then eight years later, almost seventeen years ago he appointed me to the Lakeside church. He and Sister Weakley have spent many hours and many nights in our home. They were wonderful guests and lots of fun. The family will be in need of much prayer during this difficult time. Let's give them our support.

Wonderful Revival!!!!!

Thanks to everyone who came and gave and made this week a great week of revival. The Lord was in the house nightly and blessed all who were able to attend. Our evangelist Michael Willingham was a blessing and is in need of our prayers for healing of his body. Remember to pray for him on Wednesday of next week as he makes the visit to the doctor concerning his fall.

Monday's Class

Thanks to such a large number that came to class on Monday night, March 21st. All who attended this session seemed to enjoy all the information that was given. I believe that every attender will go away a better teacher with an understanding of both themselves and the people who they are committed to teach.

We meet tonight February 28th for our next class with our Leadership Development Instructor Sister Lashell Spears. Everyone is invited that would be interested, if not already a teacher, in becoming one at Lakeside. The class starts at 6:30 pm and will convene approximately one hour. You will enjoy the evening and also have a learning experience.

Men's Fellowship

On Saturday, February 12th st 8:30 am all the men, young and old, are invited to breakfast in the Family Life Center at Lakeside. The Men's Ministry will be having a pancake breakfast and plan a time of fellowship. Men bring sons and friends and let's have a good time Saturday morning.

Teacher's Class

We will meet on Monday night, February 21st, for our first of four classes designed for our teachers. This will be a learning experience for all Sunday School and Wednesday evening teachers and any one else who would like to make preparations to become a teacher. We will meet at 6:30 pm sharp and conclude by 8:00 pm. on these nights. As pastor I encourage every teacher to make plans to attend.

Family night on the 16th

We plan to have family night on February 16th at 7:00 pm. We will plan our menu on Sunday so that everyone will know what they can bring for the fellowship. It will be a good time to invite family and friends and enjoy the evening together. We will meet in the Family Life Center for the evening.

S.O.P.A.S. Classes

On Wednesday, February 23rd through Friday 25th, 'The School of Practical and Advanced Studies' will hold classes at the campground in Dickson. Local Leadership Meeting

We will gather at 7:00 pm on Thursday evening, January 27th for this organizational and goal setting meeting. Refreshments will be served in the beginning, followed by explanation of our agenda and breakout groups with plans to come together for execution of our goals. Hopeful the weather will not hinder, but if it does we will plan for another night so that we can have full participation.

Churches and Pastors from the middle Tennessee districts came together at Lakeside for a great time of fellowship with Praise and Worship and message from our State Bishop Dr. E. C. McKinley. Just wanted to thank everyone that worked to make "Bethlehem Inn" Dinner Theatre a great success.
The play was great and all who gave of themselves, their time and talents, to make the evening a time to remember. It was great to have the number who came to enjoy the evening. Actors, cooks, servers, decorators all worked so hard and it is so appreciated.

Don't be left out get a ticket for "Bethlehem Town" Dinner Theatre at Lakeside on Saturday the 18th at 7:00 pm.
The doors will open at 6:15 for those who have tickets and can choose the seating of their choice. We only have seating for 240 people so buy your ticket. They can be purchased at Macon Bank and Trust here in Westmoreland. The Family Life Center has been transformed into an old inn and the pavilion is now a barn for the birth of Jesus with Mary and Joseph among the live animals. You will have to see to believe.

We were to call The Thomas House and give the number who would be attending the banquet this week. Due to the uncertainty of the weather for Wednesday and the possibility of not everyone being able to get there we have called and canceled the Lakeside banquet at Thomas House.

Condition of Wendell Holmes

Prayer is requested for Wendell Holmes who is in Skyline Hospital that God will give him a speedy recovery. Earlier today (Thursday morning) he had a serious stroke with complications. Also ask God's blessings on the family as they spend time with him that God will strengthen them all.

We are saddened at the death of Danny Wilson who passed away Tuesday evening at his home. It has been great to have Danny attending church and to see the changes Christ has made in his life in these past few months. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be posted when they are made.

Great Revival

We want to report that we have had a great week as we gathered to enjoy the blessings of the Lord.
Our Sunday & Monday through Wednesday nights with Larry (Bubba) Meadors ministering to us as the Holy Spirit directed was outstanding. Special singing nightly was a blessing to all who came.
Our large attendance with visitors each evening was an encouragement and the testimonies of God's work in many lives was outstanding.
Lakeside thanks everyone for their participation and the pastor thanks Lakeside for the same.

The youth from 'FIREHOUSE' at Lakeside will be heading for Dickson to Camp Hickory Hills on November 19th - 21st for a weekend of fun, fellowship, church services and meeting other youth from across TN. Cumberland County Playhouse

Helping Liberia

The Lakeside church is in to process of helping Brother Weah, overseer of Liberia to finish a home for his family to live in. We are doing this through the Harvest Partners ministry. Brother Weah has been working on this house for 8 years and we would love to see it finished by the end of the year. His wife, Sister Weah cooks all their meals outside because of the need for a facility. If you can help in some small way see or call Brother Tommy Long for details on how this may be done. It will take only $7,000 to complete this project. May God bless your efforts.

Update On May 9th C.I.M.S. Classes

Due to the short time to prepare and get materials the class scheduled for May 9th will convene the following Sunday evening, May 16th. The time of the class will begin at 5:00 pm but could be adjusted if this is an inconvenience.
We are hoping for all leadership and teachers to attend these classes.
The cost for non credited class is $40.00. If you want to use the class toward receiving a degree the cost will be some higher to cover the cost of the materials.

First C.I.M.S. Class

Classes for all ministry at Lakeside, including teachers, leaders and any one who would like to attend will begin on Sunday May 9th in the p.m. This is a spring and fall endeavor to help everyone to further their education and training in ministry. All teachers and leadership at Lakeside are urged to get involved. This will be a 5 week course of 3 hours each Sunday evening and is sponsored in partnership with The Tomlinson Center and Lee University. It is a DLC (Distance Learning Center) that is brought close to us in this area. Spend the time in learning it will be worth it.

TN. Ladies' day

Sunday Service

We had a wonderful time in the Lord today, March 14th. The Praise and Worship team led us into the presence of Lord as many gathered around the altar to pray. We had folks shouting, running and being slain in the Spirit during this worship time. There were people saved, sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost and healings throughout the morning service. We praise God for the great move of the Spirit.

We have experienced a great move of God in revival here at Lakeside with Bishop Michael Willingham. We had people saved, receiving the Holy Ghost, healings and everyone was truly blessed. I was amazed at the number that gathered each night and all became as one when the praise and worship team led us into the presence of the Lord. We appreciate the visitors that came to be with us nightly. We give God the praise for the success of this meeting.

District Meeting a Success!!!

On Sunday night, Church of God of Prophecy churches from the Nashville, Murfreesboro, Gallatin, Portland, Lebanon and Gordonsville as well as the local area came together for a great time in the Lord. All worshipped in an exciting and spiritual way as the Holy Ghost was given freedom to bless. It was great to see so many pastors and churches gather for a time of fellowship. Work Goes On!!!!

We are doing some much needed remodeling in the Sunday School Department here at the church. All rooms are getting a new face lift with newly painted walls, the trim is being painted white and the carpet on all rooms will be replaced with commercial tile.

Sunday December 20th

It was a wonderful gathering of our church family here at Lakeside. The fellowship was great as folks came with prepared food for the breakfast we ate together.
We enjoyed the Christmas story being read from scripture and Christmas songs being sung by individual members of the praise team.
The children from our Children's Church presented the Christmas story as they acted out each part as recorded in the Gospels. They did an excellent job and we thank Barry and Kim High and the Children's Church staff for the presentation.
We ended the day's activities by passing out the presents that were prepared for the children.
A big thanks to all who made the day a great success.

Lakeside Church Banquet

It was an evening to be remembered as the number grew on Friday night. All who desired to go gathered at The Thomas House for Lakeside's Annual Christmas Banquet and enjoyed an evening filled with great food, lots of fun, plenty of fellowship and good entertainment as we remembered the reason we had gathered. The "family atmosphere" filled the large dining room as the people packed, I mean packed, the place. We sang Christmas songs, read scriptures, prayed together, acted silly and had fun. It was good to have such a great bunch gather. I think we may need a larger place as we see ourselves grow and enjoy the blessings of the Lord. Thanks for coming and have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!!

Sunday's Activities

Sunday, a day filled with excitement, began with a great service as God moved in every activity. From class room studies in Sunday School to the auditorium as participants were served communion the Holy Spirit was in the house. The Graduates from the Homeward Bound classes came to the alter for prayer and were blessed completing our morning services.

The P.M. activity found a large number from Lakeside at Westmoreland Care and Rehab passing out Christmas gifts to the residents at the facility, singing Christmas songs and fellowshipping with the residents and also with each other. A wonderful, memorable and eventful day. A big thanks to Care Leader Bobby Spears and those who helped.

Pastor's Banquet

The Spirit of Christmas was in the air last evening as pastors from the greater Nashville area met for their annual Christmas banquet together here at the Lakeside church. Pastors and wives shared present and past Christmas memories and had a wonderful fellowship together. A pastor's calling is not an easy one but one that is very rewarding. It was good to meet with old faces but also good to see those who have moved into new pastoriates and came to share and to be a part. A Merry Christmas to all!!!!

As I came in today from a busy time of running errands preparing for tonight's activities and thinking about all that must be done to get ready for the Holidays my mind's thoughts went to the reason that we are so busy.
I thought, are we too busy to spend time with the One that this time of year is all about? Do we spend so much time celebrating about Him that we do not have time to celebrate with Him.
I am thinking about all that I am doing and see being done to try to bring happiness and joy to self and family when true happiness and joy already exsist in serving the one that was found by the lowly shepherds in a manger so long ago.
The greatest present cannot be found or even bought in the market place of our day. We must turn inwardly to see the real exsistance of peace and remember a host proclaiming "Fear not; I bring good tidings, Glory to God in the highest, peace and good will toward men."
Let me wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a bright New Year.

Christmas Breakfast/Children's program at Lakeside

We will have our Annual Christmas Breakfast on Sunday December 20th at 9:45 am in the Family Life Center. (There will be no Sunday School that morning.) Please bring breakfast items around 9:30 and come for good food and fellowship! We would like to have gifts for the children to open so parents if they like can bring gifts for the children. They can be placed under the trees and be given out following breakfast. We plan to assemble in the auditorium for Christmas songs and the Children's Church program led by our Children's Pastors Barry and Kim High. Come and enjoy the day with us.

On Sunday, December 13th, The Woodard Funeral Home is having their annual memorial service 2:00 pm and Ricky Woodard invites any one who has lost a loved one this year or if you have used the services of the Funeral Home in the past to come to the memorial. Let us show our appreciation to Ricky and the staff and attend the services from 2:00 -4:00 pm. Refreshments will follow the memorial.

Reminder - T.B.N. Taping

This is a reminder about the invite to T.B.N. taping on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm. The group must be there and seated by that time to receive the gift to the Adoption Ministry. You may want to get there early and view the Christmas decorations and lights in the park. If you are free that night and want to go let Sister Bobbi Wix know so she can include you in the number.

Church Library Hours

The library is open after church on Sundays and Tuesday thru Friday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. There are fiction and non-fiction books and teachings on CDs and DVDs by many well known authors and ministers. There are movies and Bibles, devotionals, books for children and teens that can be checked out. Just sign the checkout card and date it and leave it on the desk in the office. Items must be returned within 60 days. If you have any questions see Lana Cantrell, Church Librarian.

Ladies Night Out at Christmas

Friday night, December 4th at 7:00 all ladies from Lakeside are invited Ladies Night Out at Edith Graves' house for their annual Christmas Party. All ladies are asked to bring finger food or a dessert. You may bring a $10 gift, if you want to receive a gift, but it is not required. Come expecting to have lots of fun, fellowship and lots and lots of food, IT"S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

Planning for The Thomas House

If you plan to attend the Lakeside Christmas Banquet at the Thomas House this is a reminder that seating is very limited. We are unable to find a suitable place that will accommodate a larger number. At last count the number already registered to attend is 129. This leaves room for approximately 11 more then we will not be able to take another name. We are so sorry but we are running out of 'room in the inn'. If you are going plan for a great time on Wednesday evening, December 16th at 7:00 pm.

Service on the 24th

During Thanksgiving week the usual Wednesday evening service will convene on Tuesday night.
This gives everyone Wednesday day and evening to plan for Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Date your calendar and make plans to attend this special Tuesday evening service with family and friends.

Powerhouse - Reminder

Skeet Shoot on the 8th

Funeral Arrangements for Brother Jr. Vance

Visitation for public viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.
The funeral will be on Thursday at 12:00 noon with opening for viewing at 11:00 am

Please pray for the Vance Family, Sister Sue, Nelson, Abby and sisters, Brother Junior's brothers and sisters and his mother.

Death Notice

We are sorry to inform you of the passing of two who were closely connected to Lakeside.

Brother Alexander (Junior) Vance passed away early this morning (Monday) at St. Thomas hospital in Nashville. Brother Junior's body will be at Portland Funeral Chapel. The arrangements are to be made later today. Brother Vance will be missed.

Ray Jent, father of Melvin Jent (Karen's husband) passed away last night at Sumner Medical.
Funeral service for Mr. Jent will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home here in Westmoreland. Visitation begins tonight at 7:00 pm.

Special Prayer Request

We are asking for prayer for Brother Junior Vance who has just been taken back to the hospital tonight, (Sunday October 18th).
He is in need of a Divine move of the Holy Spirit in his healing. We will have more details shortly.

Lakeside Adoption Ministry/T.B.N. Taping

We are planning another trip to Trinity Music City on Tuesday, December 8th. If we have more that 50 to attend that are 15 yrs and above the Adoption Ministry will receive $1,000.00 donation.
The host is Jason Crabb with Sonicflood as one of the guest that night.
Also, T.B.N. will be decorated for Christmas at that time and can be enjoyed as well.
We would love for you to plan to go on this special night in support of the ministry.

Tool Drive

This month the men's ministry at Lakeside is having a tool drive to help stock the tool trailer. The tools will be used in various outreach projects in the community by the men's ministry. If you have any good workable tools you would like to donate, please see Richie Wix, Travis Carter or Tim Shelton. We will be accepting any type tools from hand tools to power tools.

Christmas Banquet

We have booked the Thomas House in Red Boiling Springs for our Christmas banquet this year.
We are taking reservations for the banquet and will have a limited amount of seating for the evening (first come seating only). The time of the banquet is Wednesday evening, December 16th at 7:00 pm. The price is the same as last year, $13.80 (including tip) for adults and $6.90 for a child (10-under) . See Sister Reba Patterson or Melissa Graves to make reservations.
Make plans to have a great evening of fun, fellowship and lots of great food.

All who attended were blessed and the freedom of God's Spirit could be felt throughout the house. We regret the passing of Sister Doris Walker, 83 yrs of age, on Tuesday, October 13th.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 11:00 am at the Lakeside Church. Sister Walker's body will lie in state at the church from 9:00 am until service time on Friday.
Sister Doris will truly be missed by all.

Family Night Cook-out

We are making plans for another cookout on either the third of fourth Wednesday night of October. We will watch the weather and see if it will be dry enough and warm enough to have an outing. We will plan the menu later on. Just keep a watch on the date.

Powerhouse in Dickson

Youth from across the state will be meeting at the camp ground in Dickson on November 20th-22nd for classes, worship and fellowship. It's a great time for youth to get acquainted and see friends they haven't seen in some time. See Kevin and Shannon for details about the trip and the costs for the weekend.

Ladies Retreat

Lake Barkley is the site of the Regional Ladies Retreat on November 13th-15th. If you plan to make the retreat and need to be included on the church van you must see Sister Martha Long as soon as possible. She has all details including the cost and reservations.

Concert in The Park

On October 31st there will be a concert at the Walking Track and everyone is invited. On Halloween night is a great time to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus. Bring a lawn chair and be in the number.

Firehouse in Murfreesboro

The "FIREHOUSE" praise and worship team will be visiting Restoration Fellowship in Murfreesboro on October 24th. Evangelist Tim Farmer will be in revival there and has invited all who are able to attend the revival.

Minister's Intensive

The annual Minister's Intensive scheduled for January 30-31 has been concealed. The plan is to announce and boost the Leadership Development Institute that convenes in Cleveland on April 21-24 and have those who have attended the Dickson Intensive to plan to go to Cleveland. If you would like to attend see the pastor for scheduling and the cost.

Deaths at Lakeside

We regret to announce the passing of two of our elderly members of the church here at Lakeside.

Sister Reba Holmes, 90 yrs of age past away Thursday, January 17th. Funeral arrangements are as following, Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Church. Visitation is at Woodard Funeral home Friday from 6 - 9 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until the body is moved to the church at noon. The body will be viewed at the church before the service at 1:00 p.m.

Sister Lorene Barber, 87 yrs of age past away on Thursday, January 17th. Funeral will be conducted at Lakeside on Monday, January 21st at 10:30 a.m. Visitation is Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Wilkerson and Wiseman Funeral Home in Portland.

Pray for both of these families during their great loss.

Church and the Snow Fall

We gathered on Sunday for worship as we watched the beautiful snow fall. While some called off services our decision to continue paid off as the number gathered. We were blessed as the wonderful Spirit of the Lord came to be with us. We had people saved and a happy time together. Thanks to all who came.

Prayer Involvment

The Lakeside Church is following the pattern outlined by the G.O.D. partners of the local church and are becoming involved in a prayer vigil that begins February 21st and will continue thru April 1st. This is a daily prayer time of "SEEKING GOD FOR OUR CITY" and we are asking our church and surrounding churches to be involved in this special PRAYER OF BIBLICAL HOPE for our city leaders, business folks, our schools, pastors and churches.

Our Wednesday Study Classes

As we continue our regular Wednesday Bible Studies the number of people attending is great. We invite your presence at a class of your choice for study. The auditorium class studies are about the life of David as God prepares him for rulership (Anointed to Reign). It is a very interesting study about the person David and his life that I am sure you will enjoy.

Chili Supper

On Tuesday, January 30th, everyone is invited to a chili supper to help in the needs of those who lost their home in a house fire. The children are attenders at Lakeside and the ladies of the church are preparing this meal to help in the total loss to the family. Come for the fellowship.

Sunday's Activities

It was great to be in church on Sunday. The snow was falling as people gathered to worship and greet each other as a family. Our service was a powerful outpouring of God's Spirit as people gathered around the altar for prayer and praise. The worship lifted our hearts to the lord as we sang praises together.

The evening gathering found us together with churches from cities around us. Nashville pastors and a part of their congregations came to hear the ministry of our State Bishop E. C. McKinley. Chairs were put out for the over flow as well as in the Family Life Center. We appreciate those who came together for the evening's celebration.

Wednesday Night Adult Class News

On Wednesday night the adult class is beginning a series of studies on "TRAINING FOR REIGNING", David's Pathway to Rulership. If you do not have important plans for Wednesdays come and be a part of these studies. We will have text books that you can purchase and study materials for each night's study. We will begin at 7:00 p.m. and conclude each class night in approximately one hour. It's a time you will throughly enjoy.
